Andhra Pradesh Rolls Out ‘Talliki Vandanam’ Scheme to Support Schoolchildren

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched the ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, offering ₹15,000 annually to every school-going child in eligible households. This initiative, part of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Super Six’ welfare promises’, aims to empower mothers and improve access to education across the state. Under the scheme, over 67 lakh students and 43 lakh mothers will benefit. The financial aid will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of mothers or guardians, ensuring greater involvement in children’s education. The government has set a timeframe between June 12 and July 5 to complete the disbursal process. A portion of the funds—₹2,000 per annum—will be deducted at source to support educational infrastructure, hygiene, and sanitation in schools. The scheme covers students from Class I to Intermediate, including those enrolled in government, private aided, and private unaided institutions. The initiative also aligns with the state’s broader demographic management strategy, encouraging families to have more children while ensuring equal educational opportunities. The government has emphasized that this scheme is designed to make education more accessible and inclusive.
