HP: CM Sukhu unveils Rs 25.79 cr projects in Una to boost education and healthcare

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu recently inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects totaling ₹25.79 crore in the Una Assembly constituency. These initiatives are primarily aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and accessibility, particularly benefiting students from rural and remote areas.Key Highlights:Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Una: A newly constructed building was inaugurated at a cost of ₹8.79 crore. The school is set to transition into a co-educational institution following the CBSE curriculum from the next academic session. Government Degree College, Una: A state-of-the-art academic block, built at a cost of ₹12 crore, was inaugurated. This block features smart classrooms, modern laboratories, and administrative units, aiming to enhance the quality of higher education.New Girls’ Hostel: The foundation stone was laid for a new girls’ hostel within the college campus, estimated at ₹5 crore.This move is part of a broader initiative to align government schools with CBSE standards and enhance the quality of education. Furthermore, the state plans to establish Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding Schools in every assembly constituency, with a budget provision of ₹200 crore for the current financial year. These schools will offer education from pre-primary to Class 12 as per the CBSE curriculum and will be equipped with high-tech smart classrooms, playgrounds, indoor stadiums, swimming pools, and music rooms. These comprehensive efforts reflect the Himachal Pradesh government’s commitment to transforming the educational landscape, ensuring that students across the state have access to quality education and modern facilities. Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted a significant initiative to establish Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding Schools in every assembly constituency, with a budget allocation of ₹200 crore for the current financial yearA substantial investment of ₹1,350 crore is being directed towards upgrading medical facilities across the state. This includes the replacement of outdated equipment over 20 years old with advanced machinery. Notably, robotic surgery systems are being introduced in major medical colleges such as IGMC Shimla, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College Tanda, and SLBS Medical College Nerchowk. These systems, modeled after those at AIIMS Delhi, aim to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes In addition, the government is expediting the construction of the PGI Satellite Centre in Una by securing necessary environmental clearances. This 300-bed facility, spread over 38 acres, is poised to serve the healthcare needs of Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts Addressing the rising concern of drug abuse, particularly the menace of ‘Chitta’, the state has implemented stringent measures. A Special Task Force has been established to dismantle drug networks, and properties worth ₹11 crore linked to drug trafficking have been seized. In the realm of education, the government is focusing on enhancing infrastructure and accessibility. Projects worth ₹25.79 crore have been initiated in Una, including the construction of new academic blocks and hostels. Additionally, the Government Senior Secondary School in Una is set to be converted into a co-educational CBSE-affiliated institution, aligning with the state’s vision to elevate educational standards.
