Montreal Secures F1 Future: Canadian Grand Prix Extended Through 2035

Formula 1 fans can rejoice—the Canadian Grand Prix will remain a fixture on the F1 calendar until 2035, thanks to a new four-year contract extension announced by Formula 1, the Octane Racing Group, and the governments of Canada and Québec.Held at the iconic Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, the Canadian GP is the oldest F1 race outside Europe, with its first edition dating back to 1967. The circuit, named after legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve, has hosted the race since 1978 and is beloved for its high-speed straights, tight chicanes, and the infamous “Wall of Champions.” This extension ensures the race will continue into its seventh decade, reinforcing Montreal’s status as a global motorsport hub. The announcement follows the thrilling 2025 edition of the race, where George Russell clinched victory ahead of Max Verstappen and Andrea Kimi Antonelli. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the deal, saying, “Montreal is an incredible city, full of energy and passionate fans. I look forward to more unforgettable moments here.” The agreement also includes a long-term extension of F1’s media rights deal with Bell Media, ensuring Canadian fans stay connected to the sport. With continued investment in infrastructure and a commitment to sustainability and fan experience, the Canadian Grand Prix is set to remain a highlight of the F1 season for years to come.
